I have found my love of running…

When I first came to buddyslim I was so out of shape. Gosh, I hadn’t exercised in years at all. I didn’t even like the feeling of being sweaty or out of breath or getting my heart rate up and it showed!!!

So I never blogged about the fact the that I used to run.  Me run? Four month ago I didn’t even walk:)

But I did run everyday for years. I had already had a kid and I was in the best shape of my life! It was my stress relief and my source of confidence. Everytime I met a goal I would set another and I would achieve it. Running was my freedom because it made me feel like I could do anything!

Then with life changes I stopped and never really looked back. Over the years I slowly put on more weight and became unhealthy to the point that I knew I would have to do something about it or deal with the conseqences of living an unhealthy lifestyle.

That is how I found running again. Only a few months ago  I started walking with a little bit of running. It was hard for me to even run one block! It was embarrassing! But I kept at it and did a little more each time. A little longer, a little less walking and more running and I started losing weight!

I am getting healthy and when I am out there pushing myself, pacing my breathing, willing my body I feel like I am the person that I want to be. I feel strong and fit. When I am running I am not the 170 lbs I was when I started but I am the 140 lbs that I want to be!

that was wonderful to read. i used to run alot too (on the treadmill). i havn’t in a while cuz i feel bad that i can’t run the way i used to. i can only walk now and i get out of breath quickly if i jog. i think i’ll now start by walking and then slowly start running. thanks for that. i was just thinking about it today.

Thank you for posting this!!!! Very inspiring! Every time I have tried to run since having kids, I could barely get in 30 seconds. I was so discouraged from that that I would stop trying. But I am back on track with trying and not quitting! I used to run track in HS (many moons ago!) and I was a sprinter. I LOVED the race, the run, the freedom!! Even though I had asthma at the time, I still kept at it! I want that feeling back! :) Thanks for buddying up!! Hope you have a great day today!

I think I should run. This sounds amazing! Its not just exercise, but a way of life almost! It seems so hard to get there. So congrats to you for getting back into it. And thanks for making us want to do it too!

Awesome job on your weight loss!!! :)

I am there with you. I used to run track. Running was my way out of everything. Then I stopped. Started walking…jogging..some running…I am still working on it. But every week I try a little further.

Congrats on getting yourself back into it. Keep it up! YOU ARE DOING SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!

That’s great sweetie!!! Running is soo good for you. I did it for 6 months but found out, well, decided my love is not running but more of the kickboxing, yoga, pilates……..etc. Stuff like that.

On top of that, I can’t run outside anymore which killed all motivation to do 5K’s and 1/2 marathons.

    Have fun with running. :)
